SUNO 招生 Requirements
Everyone must meet the requirements for general admission to Southern University at New Orleans. Transfer students must submit official transcripts to the University. 学生 are urged to seek academic advisement from the University’s 招生 Office regarding specific courses acceptable as prerequisites. Qualified applicants will be admitted without discrimination in regard to gender, 比赛, 民族认同, 信条, 年龄, 或者婚姻状况.
All prospective students interested in applying for admission to the BSN program should be currently enrolled at SUNO, 信誉良好, and are Pre-Nursing 专业. Any currently enrolled SUNO student in another major who desires to change their major should contact the Registrar’s office to change to Pre-Nursing. Post-Baccalaureate students re-admitted to SUNO interested in applying to the BSN program should select Pre-Nursing as their major.
BSN Program Application for 招生 Requirements
Admission to Southern University at New Orleans 护理学院 (SON) is on a competitive basis. Attainment of the minimum acceptable credit hours and GPA does not guarantee admission to SUNO-SON.
☐ Transfers or degreed students must apply to SUNO’s 招生 Department first in order to apply to the nursing program.
☐ Must submit to and pass a criminal background check.
☐ This is not bridge program for LPNs nor Associate Degree RNs, it is a traditional pre-licensed BSN program.
☐ You must have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.7 on 4.0 scale on all college courses attempted in a nursing curriculum.
☐ Completed first-year core curriculum, a minimum of 31 credit hours pre-nursing general education courses with grade ‘C’ or better.
☐ Pre-requisite courses dated 10 (ten) years or older must be repeated.
☐ Obtain and complete the application form. Submit other requested materials by the stated deadline.
☐ SUNO-SON does not accept into its program students who are not eligible to return to a nursing program previously attended. A letter of good standing must be on file from the previous nursing program, via U.S. 抬头信.
☐ You must submit official transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities including community colleges at the time of application. Official transcripts must be sent from the institution with the seal of the school affixed to the document to SUNO’s 招生 Office. Course equivalents will be determined by the Registrar and the Department of Nursing. Application packets will not be reviewed until all required documents are received.
☐Attend a scheduled interview with the 招生 Committee, 在结论部分, a proctored essay on the topic provided.
☐ You must provide evidence of satisfactory health status with a current and complete record of immunizations (including COVID-19).
☐ Present a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) card for a Healthcare Provider (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association. CPR should be current from August 1st through June 1st of the academic year entering.
☐ A preliminary review by the SUNO-SON 招生 Committee will determine if the applicant is eligible to continue the application process. If eligible to continue, you will be contacted to register for the pre-admission exam, HESI A2. These are following components of the HESI A2: Reading Comprehension, 基本数学技能, 词汇表, 一般知识, 化学, 解剖学与生理学, 生物学, 语法, and Learning Style/Personality Profile.
Consistent with the admissions policy statement in the SUNO Catalog, SUNO-SON admits qualified applicants without discrimination in regard to 比赛, color, 宗教, 性, 或国籍.
If there are more qualified applicants that can be accepted at the time of the request, the admission pool will be made up of applicants who have met the criteria for admission, have given evidence of reasonable prospect of success in the nursing major, and who best represent the mission and goals of the University.
